Land art: For a dramatic landscape art form, use the plantings in topiary forms, earthen berms, depressions, rock out- cropping and other elements in dramatic forms and patterns to achieve an artistic expression. Add curvilinear or geometric movement to the combination to the earths topography .

Landscape art is defined as an effort to imitate, supplement, alter, or counteract the work of nature. Therefore, in actuality all landscape design could be considered land art, but we take liberty here to suggest that land art is an exceptional attempt to reach a higher quality of conception or execution of beauty with an aesthetic value or an unusual interpretation of the landscape inherent within the design concept.

Very high sounding, but in this standard of observation, we would look upon land art as being quite unusual or perhaps above the normal expectations that we accept as landscape design. But in this, as in all other forms of art, the interpretation will be in the eyes of the beholder. Still, we have included this design style as a suggestion that some clients and their landscape design professionals may decide to push the envelop in regards to the creation of some landscape design interpretation and conceive of a garden of unusual aesthetics or attempt a unique interpretation of natures beauty and relevance to man. How this is to be accomplished is entirely up the vision, talents and experiences of the client and designers as teamwork. The team should envision a concept that goes where others have not gone before, and use taste, imagination, experience and knowledge to make their concept landscape art. Observers to their accomplishments will testify to their endeavor if it is successful and the success will be validated if it has lasting appeal, which is the benchmark of all good art.
